Invaluable websites to visit to
learn more about the endangered species of our planet.
Without your help, they're gone. When the buying stops, the
killing can too.
Question: Which
personal care, non-pharmaceutical products are required by law
to be tested on animals?
Answer: None!
Yes, that's right. There
is NO law that requires companies to test their personal care
and household products on animals before selling them to
consumers!
NAVS promotes greater compassion, respect and justice for
animals through educational programs based on respected ethical
and scientific theory and supported by extensive documentation
of the cruelty and waste of vivisection.
NAVS' educational programs are directed at increasing public
awareness about vivisection, identifying humane solutions to
human problems, developing alternatives to the use of animals
and working with like-minded individuals and groups to effect
changes which help to end the suffering inflicted on innocent
animals.
On this website you can type in the name of a product or
company that you want to find out if they do animal testing or
not. You'll be surprised how many animals have suffered to
"supposedly ensure you are receiving "safe" products, which by
the way, is rarely the case.
Next time you go into your bathroom, take a look around at
the Q-Tips, Dove, Suave Hair Products, Colgate, Caress, Lever
2000, Ponds, Vaseline products, Cover Girl, Sally Hansen, etc.
that you may have sitting on your shelf. These are only a
small handful of the products that have been tested on animals
inhumanely.
Then go into your kitchen or laundry room and see if you have
some of these products that were tested cruely on animals; Wisk,
Murphy Oil Soap, Dynamo, Fab Products, Ajax, Softsoap Products,
Clorox, Melaleuca, Arm and Hammer, etc.
P&G are the world’s largest
consumer products company, with an annual turnover of over $43
billion. Traditionally known for soaps and detergents, they now
produce a massive range of products in hair care, cosmetics,
perfumes, personal hygiene, laundry products, snack food, paper
and feminine hygiene – and even pet food.
They admit that guinea pigs,
rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, rats and mice are among the animals
used in their ‘product safety research’ and cats and dogs are
used in experiments for their pet foods. They are very secretive
about the nature of the experiments themselves.
Of course P&G realize that the
vast majority of people are against animal experiments for
cosmetics and household cleaning products, so they try to give
the impression that they only test on animals as a last resort.
This is untrue. A leaked memo revealed that P&G have been
lobbying behind the scenes to stop a ban on animal testing for
cosmetics within the EU.

Companies that

The following
companies either openly use animal-tested chemicals, or fail to
demonstrate that the finished product and the ingredients they
use have not been tested on animals since a fixed cut-off date.
